My father and I started going to Water Valley Lodge in 2002. We’ve gone back every single year since. Water Valley has everything you can ask for in a hunting outfitter. Opportunities for a monster buck? Check. Want to kill hogs? Check. Great food? Check. The best part of hunting with Water Valley Lodge is Jake and the atmosphere around his entire operation. Whether you’re a yankee from Buffalo, a midwesterner from Wisconsin, or a Florida man, you’ll never feel like an outsider. Jake is a former college history professor, and my favorite memories are sitting around the fire and discussing WWII battles. My first year was 2002 when I was 13 years old. I’m now 36 years old. I’ve seen all the monster bucks, either in my own field or on the van coming back to the lodge after a fellow guest killed their trophy. I cannot recommend hunting at Water Valley Lodge with Jake and his son, John Jacob enough. For the few years, we didn’t kill a deer. We still had the best time. You will too.
Myself and wife have been hunting at water valley lodge for over 20 yrs ...the utseys are the best for sure .being from buffalo ny we didn't know what to expect 20 yrs ago but we found a crown jewel in alabama ..the guides the food ...and the game is outstanding...I have taken many bucks and hogs.... can't wait till jan...I truly love going there all these yrs ....the Utsey family are our southern family for sure....roll tide....Rick becker

I have hunted at Water Valley every year for the last 11 years. The accomodations are outstanding, the food is excellent and the hunting guides are extremely helpful and friendly! We always see many deer and have had many successful hunts. Jake and family are fantastic hosts and they certainly know their business. We will continue to hunt here for as long as they will have us and the Good Lord allows it!
Had the opportunity to visit Water Valley Lodge this week. I was really impressed. Plenty of deer and hogs and southern Hospitality. The hunt, food ,camaraderie, abundance of opportunity and clean rooms all made for a really great time!
I have been hunting with Jake at water valley lodge every year for over 25 years. Jake runs a first class hunting lodge with exceptional southern hospitality, great food, hard working guides. Accommodation are clean, quiet and private. I highly recommend Water Valley Lodge to anyone for a great hunt and a good time.
Hospitality was top notch, food was excellent (especially John's country fried steak), accommodations were good too. Weather was right. In my opinion, the place is heavily pressured so sightings were minimal. That said, it is fair chase and the end of season. If you go here you will be treated right and have a good time.
One of the best hunting lodges in the United States! Can't say enough about their hospitality and service, but the game management and hunting is the best I've experienced in the last 25 years, and that includes Louisiana and Mississippi. If you're relatively crippled hunter as I am they go above and beyond to make your experience one to remember. Good Lord willing I can't wait to get back, and their staff and guides are the best around. I don't want to mention the food because their cooks are superb and I always eat too much. You won't leave their disappointed! Oh, they have some mighty big deer with beautiful racks! The hogs are pretty big also!
